Before Main Square Festival

So, tomorrow morning is the D-Day (D for Departure) for 4 amazing days in Arras, France, in front of the best pop/rock/electro artists at the moment. It means no more posts before next wednesday. It will be the occasion of one post by day of festival, with reports about live performances, with photos, videos, and of course bonuses for your ears...

To wait, here are the videos of two tracks from Moby's new album (Wait For Me, out today) : the first one, Shot In The Back Of The Head, was made by David Lynch, the father of the Twin Peaks serie from the nineties ; the second one is Pale Horses.

See you next week!

Bandit shot me down

Bandit, who's that? Bandit, it's Alexandre, a twenty years old student in Toulouse, France, but also a big talented Dj who's inspiration comes from... classical music. The new Mozart of electronic music? I don't know, but when you're the target of Busy P, aka Pedro Winter aka Mister Ed Banger, you should begin to be very, very happy... What's sure is we'll hear good sound from this Bandit guy soon!

For your ears, the two excellent tracks Rapture and Leviathan, and a one hour mixtape including some cool stuff like classical music, folk, rock, electro, movie soundtracks, church soundtracks... A beautiful mix which sounds great in my car!

I like to live good

Just Another Day et Dual Income No Kids coupent radicalement avec ce qui précède.

A new musical dream is born : the Naive New Beat. It's a wonderful mix between Eurobelix's electro and his « boom box », Martin Luther BB King's rock and the leader David Boring's rap. Three french guys (David, with his very weird french accent, spent 10 years in L.A.) have met at college to form the Naive New Beaters, a band at the top for several months. Opening the concerts of The Kills in 2008 should have helped them to be known. Performing hot shows and amazing songs, these three guys have been running throughout France and Europe since the beginning of the year, with the release of their first album Wallace (free listening on deezer) on may 2009 as a target. The true goal was to make an album which was coherent and easy to listen, rather than publishing all they had in their pockets, told David.

Opening with L.A. Trumpets or the art of taking the crowd to high temperature, the album begins on hot wheels, launching Get Love (the anthem « Come give love because I can't give love » is known all over the world, but also all over The Sims world, watch the video below) and Live Good, with a clip full of special effects to watch above...

The refrain of Wow Now makes me drop a tear and I'm nearly reaching extasy when I ear the Can't Choose debut, that each lucky guy who have attended to a NNBs concert knows perfectly : Eurobelix is setting is magic box on this intro before each live performance, and this song is also the last of show, which is expected by all the crowd, everybody is scared to miss it, it's the top of the concert!

Just Another Day and Dual Income No Kids are radicaly different from the others. The first brings me on the beach, whistling a little melody and thinking of the last night in front of a very smoothy rising sun. The second one opens on a chorus, then the guitar of MLBBK is starting slowly, and to conclude David is stressing that is not number one, what is very contradictory with the opinion of young frenchs aged 12 to 25...

Farther, I find the trio swearing to Rio de Janeiro that they love her, before David starting to count the story of his life, and revealing he always dreamt of being an actor in Boring David (indeed, it has already happened when David was younger, but it's a secret!). And finally, The Last Badaboum, where the David Boring voice (is it trully him?) remixed completes a « pop-electro-rap » album to absolutely have in your cd library. But that's not all folks! The not initiated one would be very brillant to wait for the eighth minute of this last track to have a nice surprise!

I propose you three unreleased bonuses to listen and appreciate : two tracks from the (very) old Fat Love EP and a freaky remix of the Sayem's song World of Flowers (Sayem is a french dj and productor from Toulouse, and the original video of World of Flowers is so weird, dealing with strange dreams of the ten thousandths customer of a sex shop who is offered a hot present...)

And everything is going to the beat

Passion Pit - Sleepyhead

Passion Pit - Sleepyhead (Kids At The Bar Remix)

Passion Pit - Sleepyhead (Neo Tokyo Remix)

The Mummers - Sleepyhead (Passion Pit Cover)

Passion Pit is an electro-pop band created less than two years ago, composed of four young americans. After a first EP Chunk Of Change out in 2008, the band has just released their first album. Manners (its name) contains 11 very motivating tracks, and especially one which is making the djs busier all over the world : Sleepyhead, already released on the 2008 EP and remasterised for the album.

Passion Pit - Sleepyhead

Some months after the release, many remixes have been created, like this recent track of Kids At The Bar. Rad & Matt Buckley, two djs from Oklahoma, are fabulous in their mixing work (listen to their remix of datA - Rapture), building here a speedy electro track where a pop song was standing before.

Passion Pit - Sleepyhead (Kids At The Bar Remix)

In the same style, the remix of Neo Tokyo, as seen on the Rolling Stone website, is quite a wonderful track, and a reason to compare again this welsh band to the french duet Justice.

Passion Pit - Sleepyhead (Neo Tokyo Remix)

To conclude, The Mummers and their singer Raissa from England, China, India and Mexico (whoo!) present a « symphonic » cover which trully deserve to be listened.

Here are some reasons not to miss this fourtet if they set their guitars and keyboards next to your home !

The Birth

Everything needs a beginning. For example a presentation of this blog's creator :

Nico, 19 years old, I was born in France and still living there. I am completely addicted to everything that human creativity brings to the musical world.

Music is the reason why I created this blog. I haven't the patience to create some, but so much time to appreciate it. Finding new tracks, new artists, new sorts of music, again and again, this is what I like the most spending my time. This blog's birth has an only goal : sharing with the whole world each good sound I discover throughout my daily strollings on the web, from the simple track to the big album, not forgetting videos and playlists. I like attending live performances, festivals and dj sets, and also reading french magazines like Les Inrockuptibles (weekly), Trax or Tsugi.

I will mainly focus on the wide world of electronic music, but I will also deal with rock and pop music if this opportunity knock at my door.

Dear reader, spend good time browsing this blog and listening music between the lines, and remember the world would be very monotone without music!
