Happy Birthday Random Trax!

Yes here it is, yesterday was Random Trax's first birthday. One year of honest write ups and loads of music.
To celebrate and thank all of you dear readers, may you come there sometimes or very often, I just wanted to make a big playlist, a 'giant size' one (yes, like at Ronald's house) of the tunes that made RT's first year of existence.
It's the first time I do so and I'm not used to give away some music without saying a word about it or the artists, while they deserve a lot more. But as I don't want you to be bored of always listening to the same things, things I already published or you saw elsewhere, all songs have never been featured there and some have not been featured anywere else, so : Enjoy. All music styles, staying in the limits of my music tastes of course. But I'm in a good mood today so in the comments you may find a surprise... It's your present!

I love you Adelia

Adelia, I Want to Love - a film about Mogwai, the teaser.

Mogwai is the scottish post-rock band responsible for the soundtrack of 'Zidane, a 21st Century Portrait'.
Just sit down, shut up, open you eyes, your ears, and press play to this 25 minutes documentary directed by Vincent Moon, most known for his bunch of awesome Take Away Shows.

Edit : The video was exclusively offered by Pitchfork for a short time. Here is the teaser, if you want to see the complete video just buy 2008 Mogwai album 'The Hawk is Howling'.

You Said Party?

Don't run away, don't run away

You Say Party! We Say Die! - Laura Palmer's Prom

For a while now, this song has been laying on my desktop, a bit forgotten, waiting for a possible publishing on this blog. Then life's cruelty came on the game when I learnt Devon Clifford (the shortest haired guy on the picture), drummer for the Canadian band You Say Party! We Say Die!, had died during their gig on last April. After a few months of recovery, the band decided not to split up because 'that would have not been Devon's desire' but in a mark of respect you have now to call them You Say Party.
This tribute song to the victim from David Lynch's Twin Peaks is the perfect one to thank a last time this guy cut down in the strength of his 30 years of intense life and achieved dreams. Don't run away!

Doctor doctor can't you see?

Just Jack - Doctor Doctor (Fred Falke Remix) from Random Trax on Vimeo.

I already featured this track back in November 2009. I searched the original on Youtube, but Just Jack didn't make a video clip of this song which is not his best tune. I had the desire to make one, but on the Fred Falke remix, which is way better. With a scenario in mind, sticking to the lyrics, this little edit is born yesterday afternoon and is just waiting for you to watch!

RR #8 : NightWaves x Walter Sobcek

NigthWaves - Sweet Carrie (Walter Sobcek Remix)

When someone tells me about Carrie, my love for Stephen King's work immediately makes me think of this one. The NightWaves' Carrie, even if she's wearing the same kind of clothes than the King's one, she's much more Californian, she drives, she doesn't manipulate objects without any contact and at least she's sweet.
Composing pop songs with a bit of electronic sounds, it seems to be the goal of Binary's blog writers, transformed into romantic & modern love singers for their musical project. And the Walter Sobcek's duo, in spite of a very bizarre name, is beginning to warm French Capital's hearts with the same kind of music.
Enough sugar-pop to make Justin Bieber jealous, sung on 80's beats, the perfect blend to fit well with the West Coast attitude of the Valérie collective.

RR #8 : Phenomenal Handclap Band x Clock Opera

Phenomenal Handclap Band - Baby (Clock Opera Remix)

When this track begins, it's like driving a brand new Hummer in da Bronx, 25 inches rims on each wheel, two 90-60-90 sized girls on each inch and a heavy golden necklace. Not forgetting to hobbling along as the shock absorbers make the two chicks bounce. And in the middle, with no warning, we're thrown in a disco night with vintage dancers wearing flared trousers, Hutch burning the dancefloor and spangles on the disco ball. A whole re-reading of the Phenomenal Handclap Band's unclassable tune by the new British sensation Clock Opera ; 4 young guys with a Swiss name and French musical ideas, you like it or not. I like it.

RR #8 : Cullen x Redial

Cullen - Easily Impressed (Redial Remix)

The main problem when you create a musical project and choose to call it Cullen is you're not very easy to find on Google. Even by adding 'myspace' to the key words, you'll find a bunch of crappy 'my angel Edward Cullen', 'love of my life : Edward Cullen' or even this very cute page dedicated to Rosalie Cullen, her dead husband and their lovely little devil born on my 20th birthday but already and forever aged 6. WIN. But your devoted host is a genius and finally found where this young Melburnian was hidden.
He has just released his first single Easily Impressed, featuring his teenage-band-like voice (as heard in Death Cab for Cutie, Jimmy Eat World, Phantom Planet or any other band composing The O.C., One Tree Hill or Gossip Girl's soundtracks) on a melody which is a nice blend between Phoenix and The Killers, for a sweet result. But my heart definitely goes to the Redial remix. And after having listened to it over and over for a couple of hours, I just wonder if once in a lifetime groove Rob Frier could make a crappy remix. Kind of utopian, isn't it?

RR #8 : Freak You x Worship

FYA, ça veut dire quoi? Cet acronyme qu'on voit partout, après quelques recherches, signifierait 'For Your Attention' ou 'For Your Approval'. Perso, j'ai toujours cru que ça voulait dire 'Fuck You All'.

Freak You - From Nowhere (Worship Remix)

FYA, what does it mean? This acronym we see everywhere, after a bit of research, should mean 'For Your Attention' or 'For Your Approval'. Kind of a courtesy word only used to question Queen Mum, no? Personnally, I always thought it means 'Fuck You All'.
[Beware, ill-faith] That's true, being forced to hear all these english speaking guys spreading insults all over the Internet and through the amount of shows our national tv market is invaded with, I'm beginning to wonder if the english language could come from ancestral cave man's rumbles. Back in those forgotten days, when your grandfathers were not born yet (what? Your grandpa was? Oh that's why we call him a fossil), while a simple 'hmmmmmm' was enough to express satisfaction, bizarre words like 'Grrrrrrrum' (???) or 'Rah-rah-ah-ah-ah, Roma, roma-ma, GaGa, ooh la la' (???) had to be invented to overcome the rough use of fists when not satisfied. [Hey guys I was joking]
But stop writing crappy things and come back to our sheeps (I know this is a french sentence badly translated but I don't know how to say it in english ; means I was dealing with something, then I changed, then I came back to the original talks). I guess actually FYA's meaning is Freak You Awesomeness, an illness Franck catched in his mum's placenta, while she was tanning and drinking red wine on the French Riviera, thinking of her son's future label which could be called On The Fruit and feature an amazing Swiss called Worship. She was already dreaming of two friends which fantastic work would lead to a track I actually need to hear on the dancefloor.

RR #8 : Calvin Harris x The Phantom's Revenge

Calvin Harris - Stars Come Out (The Phantom's Revenge Nothing To Do On Saturday Afternoon Bootleg)

It's been a while since we last have news from Scottish clubber Calvin Harris. Yet, he's booked in approximately every english speaking festival this summer, from Isle of Wight to Creamfields through Camp Bestival, Benicassim or even the Hungarian Sziget. If his track Stars Come Out is less banging than other tunes from his second album, it didn't disturbed our buddy Phantom who made a banging bootleg giving you desire to hurt your legs with your arms and vice versa, not forgetting to grab your neck with your legs and jump to first available teen's neck before she's stolen by the king of the dancefloor who is actually practising before fighting Travolta in Saturday Night Fever. Well, there's a lot of things to do on a saturday afternoon at Tony's house.

RR #8 : Phoenix x PV Nova

Phoenix - Lisztomania (PV NOVA Orchestral Remix) (mediafire)

The buzz around Phoenix, that's nearly the one around Daft Punk, without the helmets. Like the 2 robots before, the four other 'riding-the-wave' frenchies coming from Versailles may inspire young guys soon, in France to begin but probably all over the world too (proof here). A lot of words to introduce this orchestral remix from PV Nova, a 24 years old Parisian who is kind of a multi-task man, solo musician, lead singer of The Mammy Novas and playing with Les Tistics ; as Pete Herrs has done before with his symphonic remix of 1901, it's like hearing Franz Liszt playing piano on a tribute track made by the French band...

Random Remixes #8 : Stardust x Cadillac

Stardust - Music Sounds Better With You (Cadillac Remix) Exclu

Generations' clash? There's a decade between the 3 bright frenchies of Stardust (Bangalter, Braxe and Diamond) and the Australian duo Cadillac. A decade which saw thousands of DJs rising all over the world, inspired by this French Touch anthem which has probably been remixed as many times as it has been bought. How being better than the amount of reworks among Bob Sinclar, Steve Angello or Deadmau5? These 2 young aussies may not have the miraculous recipe but some synth and a nice riff of electric guitar is a good beginning. But the right solution is definitely to make a mad but awesome video which takes us into a funky gig of a colombian branch of the Raëlism...
